Crater Lake National Park | South Central Oregon

Crater Lake National Park is a jewel of the Pacific Northwest. Located in south-central Oregon in a sparsely populated area, and is actually in the middle of nowhere. That’s what makes visit Crater Lake, even an adventure. You’re not going to happen at Crater Lake, unless your goal is to get here. The nearest airports are in Klamath Falls (60 miles from the park) and Medford (80 miles from the park).

But there will be well worth the work! Few places evoke such an overwhelming respect for the observers, but Crater Lake National Park is not in reality. In addition, an area which offers many points of view and natural volcano, just a description of Crater Lake is incredible.

You may have heard about the color of a deep blue lake, but words can never prepare for the first breathtaking view from the edge of this crater 6 meters wide or boiler was caused by the eruption of Mount and the Cave of the afternoon. Mazama last few thousand years.

My most vivid memory of Crater Lake is to find different views along the rim road around the park. One point in particular, has a breathtaking view that you can walk on it is not much greater than 3 or 4 feet. What makes this place so awesome is that the 3-foot wide path to the falls steeply provide more than 1,200 in some places.

Sorry, I will not say where this secret place, you can find all this on your own. However, you will know when you get there! Most of the year is snow in the crater lake area around the crater lake receives some big snowstorms in the country, averaging an amazing 533 inches per year.

For a brief period each year, the National Park Crater Lake is clear from this cold winter to enjoy the sun in summer. If you visit early in the season, you may be surprised by the amount of snow which remains long time in months, which are considered early and mid-summer in most regions of the nation. Due to these adverse weather conditions and often unpredictable, most park roads are closed, even by late spring.

Crater Lake is host to a variety of activities. While appreciating the natural wonders of primary forest trails visitors can participate in various activities, interpretations, or remain at a historic hotel or ski camp in the country within eight months, even know its long winters here in the Cascade Mountains. If you plan to visit Crater Lake, there are only two campgrounds in the park with a total of 216 tent sites. Seats are available on a first-come, first served as reservations are not taken into the park. If you like the outdoors and are particularly fond of the national parks of our country, you do not want to miss the incredible beauty that awaits you at Crater Lake National Park.
